Phoenix Contact’s tool-free locking system for high-performance plug connectors saves space

Tool-Free Locking System for High-Performance Plug ConnectorsPlug connectors from Phoenix Contact’s PC 5 line are now outfitted with the tool-free Click and Lock locking system.

Plugging the 6 mm² plug into the PC 5 base terminal automatically produces a clearly audible locking sound. This system requires half the space of screw flanges and offers more connection security to device manufacturers. The Click and Lock system accepts PC 5 screw plugs and SPC 5 spring cage plugs with 2 to 12 positions.

With the push-in spring of the SPC 5 plug, flexible wires with ferrules can be connected with moderate force and without a tool. The SPC spring also uses a direct plug-in principle to create a kind of cage in order to ensure that the wire fits perfectly into the terminal. Automatic Click and Lock locking in inverted IPC 5 plugs enables flying wire-to-wire connections to be quickly locked in place. The system establishes secure connections especially for vibration-intensive applications in power electronics.
